SF Bay access issues

Here's an announcement of particular interest to those that live in or kite in the SF Bay Area:

*SFBA SITE STEWARDS PROGRAM LAUNCHED!*

SFBA SITE STEWARDS--
WHO are we? Local kitesurfers and windsurfers who want to protect access to our local spots for the long term.

WHERE are we? All over the extended S.F. Bay Area.

WHAT are we? As a Site Steward, your four main goals are:
(1) WATCH YOUR LOCAL SPOTS: Volunteer to be a Site Steward for your local-favorite kitesurf spot(s), and then KEEP AN EYE OUT for access issues.
(2) WATCH THE GOOGLE GROUP:
http://groups.google.com/group/SFBAsitestewards
Keep an eye on the emails coming from the SFBA Site Stewards google group -- in case your fellow kiters/windsurfers need your help or have some good ideas to share. Help them, and they'll be there to help you when you need it.
(3) RECRUIT: Recruit your friends and fellow local sailors to volunteer to become Site Stewards.
(4) USE SFBA.ORG: Use the Site Stewards page on SFBA.ORG to see the current official list of Site Stewards, and to contact people one-on-one. (Click on the "Site Stewards" link; note: Site Stewards page is in the works.)
*Stewards also have the opportunity to help by passing out SFBA newsletters and safety flyers at their local spots. Socially-motivated types can even host BBQs/Safety Days and Beach Clean-ups/work days -- if approved by the Board Of Directors ahead of time, SFBA will cover the expenses ($).

WHY are we? SFBA has been a powerful force protecting our local spots for 20 years! We are getting organized with the Site Stewards thing now because we know that for too many reasons to mention, there will always be threats to our access. We also have the opportunity to improve access - such as by adding your local spots to the Bay Water Trail. The issues come up when we least expect it; sometimes in the off-season. Let's be organized at the grassroots. Let's be ready.

check it out.

"Boardsailing" as we intend it, means kiteboarding and windsurfing.
