Is this like a new kind of spam? Programs reply to random old posts so that they can include scam links?

I don't know, but it's bulls*&t. I'm going to try and ban his IP address, or if it continues, Guest posting will be deactivated....

I would like you to eliminate guest postings, and have some kind of verification signup procedure to actually know a persons true idendity.

Guest posting can be deactivated, and account activation could be turned on, but all that really does is verfify someone's email address. We can deal with the occasional bad attitude, but repeated spam is unacceptable...

Not sure who your subject line is directed at, but maybe you didn't catch the spammers posts in the last few days trying to promote and sell typical internet scams, which were subsequently deleted... all kiters in the bay area are always welcome...
