Monday wind...

Post by Pablito » Mon Jan 02, 2006 2:20 pm

It's probably too late for me to head out now, but I'm wondering...

Seems like the wind is NW and Alameda is getting shadowed out. Do you guys ever kite Berkeley in storms, or is the water too wild and wooly? Seems like today might be the last chance until the weekend at the earliest.

At 1:20 Berkeley is 22 WNW 15-27 with an almost 7 foot tide (big) peaking at 12:50, so there's no beach at all right now, and with the storm, rain, and a sizable spread in the numbers, maybe not the best idea, but if the wind holds later might work as some beach appears in the afternoon.

If anyone goes out, try and have someone spot you on your launch, keep it low and go and be ready with your safety!

Check the OCSC webcam for images up and to the North of the pier:

Alameda's up to 11 avg.

Man, I should have gone skiing today. :(

The drivetime ratio is much better. 2-3 hours drive for 1.5 hours kiting vs. 5 hours drive for 6 hours skiing.
