I think that anything that gets you active works. Going to the gym 4 to 5 times a week for one hour does not give you the same results as going to the beach. I need to find something that works like going to the beach.

Dewey - only going to the beach will give you the same intense core workout that kiting provides.

What I do:
Lift weights
Pilates for core strength
Aerobic work to keep the heart in shape
Telemark and Alpine skiing

Good winds + waves, Zeev.

Hmmm. Kiting 2-3 times a week up until 2 weeks before my first ski trip did not keep 3 days of powder skiing from kicking my ass. My back was so sore every morning I could barely get out of bed, and my quads were getting jiggly by noon after nonstop runs down 3,000 vert. ft. at Snowbird.

I think the question for me isn't how to keep in shape for spring kiting, but how to get in shape for skiing after a full season of kiting.
