WW Rapture 2 - Bay Area demo on Sun (Oct 30)

Post by feixaq » Sun Oct 23, 2005 6:35 pm

Just traded emails with Will Harper (wilzone), looks like he's going to be in town to show off Windwing's 2006 Rapture 2 kites on Sunday, October 30.
I'll be in the Bay this coming weekend. I have the only 16.5m Rap2 in existence, and one of the only two 6.5s. I have a 12 as well, and should get a 9 tomorrow. Would be willing to do a "show and tell" with the Bay Area folks on Sunday afternoon, you guys name the place.
Where do you guys suggest we should do this, given current wind conditions?

Next weekend is still along way off, but the forecast now for Mon-Friday is pretty bleak, wind-wise. :(

So best spot? Third or Crissy, probably, huh? Even if it's windy on the coast, I don't think WW wants any of us dropping a new Rap in the waves.

Tides at 3rd

Post by palaver » Mon Oct 24, 2005 11:43 am

3rd Avenue tides

wxtide says the tides are low at 5:33 on Sat and 5:07 on Sunday.
(There is a clock change between those days, so Sunday at 5:07 is really 6:07.)

Good news: ebbing all afternoon!
Bad news: lowish water around 5pm = mud at the lower beach.

Low is 1.47 on Saturday, not the lowest. Sunday is 0.84, mud city.

I ll think we should look more or less only after the wind. My guess is 3rd. Saturday was really good later on...

Bring the kites to Alameda! Back near Windwing's crib (Alameda is close to Berkeley).
You've got one of the best beaches in the bay (next to Crissy).
They're supposed to be good in light winds right?
Also, should be some clearing wind from the storms.

SUN AND MON...W WINDS 5 TO 10 KT...BECOMING NW 10 TO 20 KT IN
THE AFTERNOON.

Of course, that's a long way off. High Pressure is supposed to build back in starting Saturday. Clearing winds will be Saturday, most likely, so what does that leave for Sunday?
