A gyro would keep the whole thing stable. It moved freely up and down but when the kite spun in loops the view was level.

Yuri:

Is that trailer on this site? http://www.naish.tv/

I didn't see the shot you were talking about, but some great footage nonetheless.

No I dont think so. I had it on my computer somewhere, it looked a few years old. Maybe 2003, or 2004. Greg Drexler was on it. I think Adam Koch was riding with the cam kite. I looked high and low for it and couldnt find it anywhere.

At the end of it they had a camera shot where the camewra is always level, yet always faces down
Any chance it was done in post production? Seems easier than a rig.

It'spossible but you can see the wingtips swinging around the view. It is so stable too, the camera never swings side to side after steering the kite and stopping fast. Inertia-less. So maybe it is done digitally afterwards. I dont know how they did it though. no big dealreally, just curious.

There's also a lot of that camera-on-kite footage in "The Complete Kiteboarding Guide" DVD. It is really neat how the camera compensates. I'll watch it again to check, but it seemed to me like there was a slight delay before the image satbilized, making me wonder whether there wasn't some kind of software compensation involved in either the camera drive or image production.

cheers,

David

I found it! A few weeks ago I was asking if anyone knew how they got the camera to be level. This is not the same video but very similar footage. It is about half way through that you will find it.
