Hey guys, Greg here from Florida. I'm the one to blame for delaying your
demos on the Sonic. We've had the only one here in florida for the past
week. Dave was kind enough to leave it with me after the expo, and I've
had a really hard time parting with it. All I'm going to say is that you have
to try this kite! Dave will be demo-ing all over the west coast over the next
month.
Get with him about the schedule. info@litewavedesigns.com.
If you have any questions about the kite you can email me at info@usakite.com.
Cheers,
Greg K

There's a post on Ikite from Litewave Dave. Says he's demoing the 11 Sonic in North Lake Tahoe this weekend (Oct. 1).

Isn't it getting kinda chilly up in Tahoe this time of year? Is that where the best wind is right now, or what?

Lightwave Dave wrote: Come try the Sonic 11m at "Kinky's Park" in Kings Beach. This is located where highway 267 from Northstar hits the lake. Look for the weird looking orange kite in the sky. I'll be there 12-5pm.

Forecast is for 20-35+ with high wind warnings....sounds perfect for the Sonic.

Any questions, email me info@litewavedesigns.com

Hey Dave,
I didn't realize people kited on Lake Tahoe. What kind of wet suit do you wear? What months do you ride there?
thanks,
bric

I don't live there anymore but I used to and we kited in the lake from March - OCtober. East winds in OCtober on the south shore are rock steady. 4/3 or 5/4/3 wetsuit in early/late season. Sometimes a shorty in the middle of summer. Mostly big kite in North lake. Some days, especially south lake have 30+ winds.

GK, like a Crossbow minus the bar pressure

Post by p-air » Sun Oct 09, 2005 10:09 pm

Purely by chance, I ran into Litewave Dave this weekend and had a chance to try out the Sonic at 3rd Ave in San Mateo. What a kite. So safe and fun. So having tried out the Crossbow earlier this season I'd compare the two in regards to how quickly they can pick up speed and their general flying styles. Where the Sonic excels however, is the low pressure. I could ride for hours w/o my arms getting tired, which is not something I could easily say for the Crossbow. The kite also picks up speed on command and just generally feels great.

Now for the cons. The sheeting mechanism is cludgy and not easily adjustable while you ride. Also, the mechanism that keeps the bar from going all the way up when you let go, so you can spin it, is also cludgy and doesn't always hold. One time, I let go of the bar to spin the twists out of it, and it pushed the little stopper off the locking plastic in the rope, which resulted in the kite falling out of the sky. The good news however, is that relaunch is a snap. The kite practically relaunches itself very safely.

All in all, if they address the little things and maybe consider a bar more like the Crossbow's, this kite is gonna rock!

Hey p-air,

Nice to see you at 3rd. The two minor issues that you referred to are being addressed.

I think you just didn't have the stopper pulled down firmly when it let go accidently.

Thanks for trying the kite and I hope to see you on the water soon.

-Dave
