Here is a fascinating story from Australia from almost a year ago. Apologies for the slow surfacing but it should be worth the wait. Some acts and stories are timeless, I believe this one falls in with that lot.
Some tow-in surfers are about to be busted up against rocks in driving 25 to 30 kt. winds and 4 to 13 m (13 to 40 ft.) waves and it is almost dark. The nearest rescue folks aren't anxious to take on these horrific conditions in available craft. There is a kiteboarder and solid waterman rigged with a 14 m kite who thinks he can help.
