Is the "wind is usually too gusty" statement in general, or specific for spring conditions?Spring wind is best when a.m. buoys are 25+ at Bodega, wind is steady from 11am-2pm 15-20, afternoon wind is usually too gusty. Summer is great when there is N.W. wind and fog 10-20. Winter is good on Southerlies usually in the am. 10-15.

Re: Stinson?
As the land heats up at all times of year that have NW winds, Stinson winds tend to go side off shore and gusty after about 2:00.jjm wrote:The Stinson info here mentions that:

Damn Gabe, is there any spot that you don't know the full scoop on?KillaHz wrote:As the land heats up at all times of year that have NW winds, Stinson winds tend to go side off shore and gusty after about 2:00.jjm wrote:The Stinson info here mentions that:

Gusty
Due to the fact that Bolinas head blocks a large part of Stinson, it needs to be a solid push for Stinson to be good. You need a strong NPH pumpin coastal winds, then you may get good wind @ stinson....
The general rules of thumb I've found useful are:
1. If Bodega/Tomales are in high teens, good sign
2. If Crissy is going at high teens/low 20's, good
3. If Ocean Beach is blowing in 20's, good times
If all of the above 3 come together, you have high probability of good wind @ stinson. Its a good early day spot, by 3:30 it's usually done and goes a bit side off as Gabe mentioned. This is a great spot to learn waves.
It's a fun spot with really nice scenery. It's a long beach with many peaks, so it never gets too crowded.
Good winds + waves, Zeev.
