Thanks to Josh and Ollie for making this forum a reality and to everyone who supports sustaining long-term access to Crowne Beach for kiters.

Ours is a beginnerís beach and that comes with responsibilities. More experienced riders set the bar on behavior that others will assume is the standard. Our actions will be emulated by less skilled kiters and that is where our concerns for public safety begin. Try to recall your first day with the big kite in the air, trying hold the bar steady and pick up a board. Todayís newbies are no different than you were then.

The whole point of these efforts at guidelines and site development is to keep the public safe and sustain long-term access to the beach; Remember that, as discussions unfold and ideas are put forth to be considered ñ implemented or tossed - the ultimate purpose is to keep the public safe and our playground available. In years to come the number of kiters will grow and they will all want to learn at Alameda. If it takes a wet kite at the end of a down winder the long-term savings will be worth it.
