Wind express is one of the only ways that you could buy WW kites. I heard that some shops will start selling them. I'd get in on it if I were a retailer.

Would the 12 and the 17 WW Rage IIs be good for 3rd Ave as well, or is that just "Alameda advice?" :)

The 12 for higher wind days, and the 17 would be OK for days when it's blowing 13-15 or so, but it still has the range so if it comes up a bit more, you'd be OK. The 17 should be good up to about 18-20 depending on your weight. What's your weight?

David, I would stay away from a 17m at 3rd ave. In the summer time it's rare to have a good 17m day. It's either too windy, or too light for a 17m kite, unless you are a big guy and like to ride totally lit.
It depends on your weight though. I wouldn't get anything bigger than a 14M if you are going to be riding 3rd mostly.

Well, I weigh 160 (birthday suit, no neoprene
) I haven't gotten a board yet, though, and I know that matters. I was thinking something in the 150 cm range, or maybe an Airush Square One (Two?). I'd been hoping I could get away with a used board (man, this equipment is expen$ive!), but it seems most of the turnover is (understandably) in shorter boards.
I would expect, however, that 3rd Ave would be my regular area, since I live on the peninsula.
Thanks and TIA for your advice!
cheers,
David
