Fixing split seam and burst bladder (leading edge)

Any recommendations on fixing a split seam and burst main bladder?
The split is about 3 ft long (only the threads broke, no torn fabric); the bladder is quite shredded so I assume a new one is needed.
Is this a job for a pro (I've got Willy's number)?
Is a sewing machine necess? Other than getting all the sand out and using talcum for the new bladder any critical issues?
