I tried using a skim today. Between me sucking, onshore conditions, and a pretty high tide, I didn't do too well, but I did get up on it a few times. Definitely going to give it another shot when the water is shallower!

I think I saw you out in Alameda... I went out just as everyone was coming in on the Cabal 158 and a 19.5 Contra... I was able to make upwind progress when the sensor was showing 8-9... The wind dropped a bit and I finally couldn't stay upwind around sunset... One thing about the Contra is that it will fly in SUPER light winds..... It will stay flying when there isn't any chance of riding.

kite size and wind range for Cabal sx51

Post by Scotty » Sat Jun 18, 2005 12:06 pm

I own a Cabal SX 51 and was wondering what kite size for windranges should I use? My current quiver is 8m,11m,13m, & 15m all medium aspect ratio. I usually kite out at OB, Crissy, & 3rd.
Do you want a bigger kite size with regardss to surf and chop?

It's pretty sweet. It's a little trickier to get the hang of if your just starting on the skim but if you've been riding them for a while, you'll be stoked on the new Fire board. It's a rounded pin tail with molded grab rails...much more surfy. You can really rail that tail. It ollies a bit better than the SX as well.
