A day of kiting followed by a bonfire / bbq sounds good to me.

Ollie - a fun event would be a sherman down winder to windy cove when the weather is right: good 12m conditions, ebb switching to a flood. There is a sick standing wave at Decker island - we used to play on this wave back in the wsurfing days, super fun.

Another fun option is an informal expression session at the entrance to the park. Judged by fellow kiters.

Followed by beers and burgers back on SI. Bring your bongos, guitars and all other party hardware.

Later, Z.

I had an idea for a family-oriented event where we bring the material and designs to make kites w/the kids. I haven't made a kite since I was 10 and it was a paper and balsa box kite. Perhaps we could do a ripstop nylon sled kite.

We could meet @ Alameda for lunch. By the time a little wind showed up the kids could fly them. Then if we're lucky the real winds will come and we can kite too.

What about kite night. Chip and LMG were doing them a couple of years ago for the newbies to learn. They also brought Peter trow to talk. Good fun!!!

Bob had a good point though, if it's windy enough for tarping, wouldn't we be out on the water? ;)

Since I have a wife and kids that don't have much of a chance to "participate" in my other love "kiting", I like the idea of BBQ pot luck that families would enjoy.

PS: Ollie, I realize I owe you 50cents for the shirt. I went to my truck to get you the change and got soo exicited about getting on the water totally spaced about the money.

Rick, no worries! Getting on the water is more important than 50 cents anyday! O:)
