Line lengths/wind wing bars.

Post by consumer » Mon Mar 28, 2005 11:32 pm

So my gaastra defender bar, after tearing through my skin because of its horrible design, is starting to tear apart in places i cant replace, a great bar for riding comfortably hooked in. I decided to replace it with a windwing B-safe, any negative thoughts on this bar?

On to my real question, what line lengths do you guys use? i got my windwing bar with 23m, but i think 23m really kills power if you want to jump huge or get upwind on those light days, does anyone find the same?

My defender bar has 25m lines, but my best bar has 23m, thats where i get this from.

Oh and if anyone can tie a bowline perfectly at the top of plastic tubing, could you PLEASE show me sometime? I always have an inch or so exposed, and its pretty annoying when my bar rides up there, it kind of snags on the pull down.

I think you get better luck posting those questions on the WindWing forum :)

I had a Gasstra Defender bar as well at one point and I didn't much care for it. The chicken loop broke within a month. I have both the CC bar and the B-safe bar and the only thing I'd mention about the B-safe bar is that the chicken loop won't rotate freely under load to untwist your front lines. They are aware of this and a fix will make it's way into production soon I think, but that's the only caveat I've found thus far. I like the clam cleat sheeting system. The bar does have adjustment knots on the outside line leaders, which are located under the foam floats where the lines are attached at the bar.

The lines are actually about 24m when you factor in the leaders. The bar has a nice ergonomic feel too. As far as line lengths, I haven't used more than 25m for some time now.
