Rapture 12

Post by OliverG » Mon Apr 11, 2005 9:12 pm

Today I got a chance to ride Charlie's new Rapture 12. The winds were pretty light for a 12; I had just come in on an Outrage 14, but wanted to try it so jumped on it and went out.

This is a very interesting kite for sure and given my limited experience on it today am not familiar enough on it yet to say much, but it was different than anything I have ridden to date. It turns very fast and provides nice lift and hangtime from what I could tell so far in todays light conditions. Other than that, I can say much, but will have a Rapture 15m in a day or two, with a 12m to follow, so will post more info soon, but it's kind of as Windwing has said is that it's unlike anything else, it performs and it's new and innovative, but that many people may not know what to make of it at first. It's clear that, as with any kite really, that several sessions in different conditions will be needed to really "get it".

More info on this neat kite of a new concept can be found here.

Thanks for the responses. The published low end of teh 14 rage is 10 knots I think. I'm pretty sure I will stay upwind on the skim in sub-10 knots. Plus it'll be a nice size to have for 12-20knots sweet spot with a normal board before pulling out the 12m rapture.

Charlie, that's great that you're stoked on the kite! Your random usage of capitalization is intriguing, I must add. A sure sign of enthusiasm! :)

Rapture 12m and 15m Reviews.

Post by DrLightWind » Wed Apr 13, 2005 4:33 pm

I'm happy with my Raptures. When they're powered up they perform well.
I found board size selection for the rider's weight is very important when riding with Raptures.
When riders are one size smaller kites and you're seting-up a next size Rapture don't believe when they tell you you'll be overpowered.
Theese kites are different and you'll be still in full control, while having fun and going upwind the way nobody can come close.
Theese kites are amasing.
WW did a good design with only 4 lines with the reverse launch and safety built into the kite and the bar,
without the complication of 5th line and other expensive relaunch systems.
This weekend hopefully will be enough winds for the Rap 12m to practice more loops.
For now if any of you interested I already have review on kiteforum.

and let us know when you start to do two loops
as you know the kite will do it

and ya seems like lately everyones on there 10m when iam ripping on the 12m rapture in conplete control.
i also think iam going to get some low end out of the 12m rapture as soon as the wind drops down a bit
yesterday i left the beach with the 14m kites but stayed out for the 10m blow! nice kite!
I LOVE MY RAPTURE.

thanks
Charlie you came in on your 12 and the wind stayed about the same, with a lot of 10's on the water.

I was on a 14 nemisis....great time.
i AM 185 lb'S

It was up and down. The newer (04-05)kites handle gusts better than my old '01 kites (obviously) but, the true test is how low that rapture will keep cooking, my gut tells me it will be a big range, but keep us posted on the low end please. Looks like a nice kite.

my outrage and nemi's are still fine, but looking close at that rapture.

I'm looking to buy a few kites soon. For a 150lbs beginner, what would you recommend for the bay. I already have a naish boxer 12m.

i rode my 12m rapture yesterday at pt emery
i had a ball ,after 1.5 hr i came in
MR chip shows up ,rigs up (16m rrd zh) and rips off the put in
Drives right up wind (to weather) and puts himself right smack into the circle.
i tryed to stay with him low ,things felt felt even, then he just went to anther area code. to weather. poped though the hole in the pier and gone
i limped up to hsloardships and played in the window at the bar end of things.

So you would take a RRD ZH 5th line over a WW Rage II with SAFE?
Anyone
