I spotted this on the Windwing forum (www.windwing.com/forum):

"I thought I would add a tip†about lubrication!

There is a special product available from the yacht racing world called Mclube. It is designed for use on deck fittings like blocks and traveller cars. It is teflon based so it won't perish materials like sailcloth and synthetic ropes. I use it to lube my control bars - works really well."

I'm going to check West Marine for this, no doubt it will extend the life of your sheeting lines. Got to me some of that McLube! (For kiting)

I second that!

He is absolutly right. We have used this stuff in skiff sailing for years. We coat every surface (that you don't stand on). It makes everything run slicker and gives a level of protection.

We also use it to completely coat our spinnakers to help repel water and make them run through the launcher faster. I coat all of my kites, and it helps them keep from getting water-logged. The stuff is milky white so it will show up on darker kites but it's not permenent and is actually good for it.

Hope to see you guys all soon (I ride the BIG purple gaastra and the little blue North)

Cheers
Gary
