Small Foilboards Options

Post by Red_Element_Andy » Mon Jun 11, 2018 10:55 am

Hey Y'all.

I started on a Liquid Force Foil Fish about 2-3 years ago, and am still happy with that foil - but not the board. It's so big & heavy, and i now realize how unnecessary the area is both behind the mast, and at the nose.

I've looked at some various 'pocket-boards' - but of those that are available domestically, I'm surprised the cheapest might be the Dwarfcraft 3'-6" ($699). Horati/Kanaha looks pretty cool, but at $750, I'm not sure I want that either. I've also heard that a wake-skate might do the trick.

etc.

I'm tempted to try the wakeskate option as a starter, or maybe even build a plywood (1/4" + 1/4", glass in the rocker) board out of lack of good affordable options.

Well the LP Carbon at $769 has a lot of traction at Coyote for sure

You can also go with a shaper, many renowned guys around they'll do a great foil pocket board for you in that price range. Definitely worth checking out...

Cheers,

Kanaha shapes all the way! I'd first get good at strapless on a wakeskate or your fish, but long term, Kanaha makes the perfect board.

Can't go wrong with many of these options you show, you're right to shave as much weight as possible. Not sure about that skim tho, but who know, could be super fun!
