The beach has changed at Sherman

Post by Gorgegezzer » Thu May 25, 2017 1:27 pm

The high tides and high winds have changed things at the beach. The bench and wind break are gone. The drift wood has filled in more. Some of the wood has screws, nails and other metal attached. The regulars have tried to get rid of those pieces but each high tide can roll the wood and expose more. So beware.

Someone left a set of lines a few days ago. Bob, the host, has them.

Speaking of which.
Was there yesterday. Powered up on my 8.
Got back to shore just to witness someone about to launch a 12m.
Stopped the guy right away. Told him that it was too big.
The guy said that it was the only Size he had but he understood (super nice) and decided to wait for the mid-day lull (that never came).
I'm not really mad at him for trying to put a 12 up (he seemed more beginner-intermediate), I'm more mad at the (what seemed to be) more experienced kiter who was about to launch him and had himself rigged a 9...
Like, seriously? You rig a 9 for you but are about to launch someone on a 12?

After what happened less than 2 weeks ago, I thought that the more experienced kiters would keep an eye out...
Gust were at 30mph at the time of the conversation...

Listing gear is bad, and you should feel bad.
