Hi,
I seem to recall that the Hornet sensor is best for south winds at Alameda, and that the shack sensor is in a bit of wind shadow. Can anyone confirm this? The Hornet sensor had a pretty steady 15-20mph winds today.
My desire to ride is getting the best of my desire to be warm and dry. Anyone else?
Question is what to look for to know when to head over for the wet sand, rain, cold and wind?

USS Hornet and Oakland Airport sensors are good indicators for South winds for Alameda. There were definitely a few kiters out today. Watch out for nasty runoff. The Oakland estuary get dumped with untreated sewage from EBMUD.
I usually go kiting in these conditions, but am weakened by the flu and virus this winter season.
Make sure you have a good immune system and no open wounds if you plan kiting this rainy season

I'm no expert on Alameda, but I always check the Cam at https://boardsportscalifornia.com/weather1/webcam/ after checking the speed and direction on the Alameda sensor on Ikitesurf.

I'm with Ray - waiting for smiling chocolate ice cream emoji's to clear up before getting in the water quite yet
I sailed out of Ballena yesterday and on the way out saw some people kiting decently powered twin tips etc. on very low tide. But at times the water actually smelled sort of gross - like "dead marine life on shore decaying" gross ... only I couldn't spot any dead animals ...
There is probably kite-able south wind out there all this week in the afternoons if you're willing to get wet.. but be careful out there!

That smell is fairly common up towards Crab CoveAloha wrote: I sailed out of Ballena yesterday and on the way out saw some people kiting decently powered twin tips etc. on very low tide. Looks like tomorrow could be kiteable.
Listing gear is bad, and you should feel bad.

It's officially the season now since someone put the first kite of the year into the trees.
