the best board for the bay chop has finally been redesigned. it's cool that a good design held up for so long, but I'm excited to try the new one next time they're down here demo'ing!

Re: the best board for the bay chop...
I rode one exclusively in the bay for a couple years and while I did love it, I missed the flex and pop of a traditional twintip. I got a Shinn Monk recently, and while it is a very different handling board overall, I would say that it handles the bay chop just as well as the Mako does, if not even slightly better (I feel like find myself going a bit faster through chop on the Monk than I did on the Mako). Though the Mako certainly carves a lot better. :-) I wouldn't mind trying a new one either...

Re: new mako
+1 on monk, had my 2013 monk and loved it, chop eater and acceleration hooligan, weak sides were soso pop and soso toeside on 2013 model, I've heard they improved both on 2015, but instead I went with new shinn bronq and love it, definitely chop eater, but with great pop and toeside.
Tho, once Erin will get new mako I'll get 6 pack ready to try it :)

Will the king have a deck pad? I loved my 2010 but cracked it last year.
Loscoco how are you liking the Duke compared to the King?

Re: new mako
I like the DUKE WAY WAY better than the King. The Duke has more of a surfboard feel to it yet still a fun board to goof around on. I have taken it in real waves and had fun with it and also for light wind and small ollies etc. The curves and float make it super fun and forgiving of a board.AD72 wrote:Will the king have a deck pad? +1, Duke is super fun board to ride, I almost ordered one, but for me it didn't ticked all boxes as I was looking for a board for bigger waves yes still strapless freestyle oriented, Duke is more mushy waves/chop fun to low- to mid waves and I already have paipo for that.
