I'm picking up what you're putting down man. Primates have a ingenious peel disposal process.
Great question -- as a soon-to-be beginner, I've been wondering the same thing. It seems to me though most injuries occur during the launching/landing process. Is this a correct generalization? Can you hurt yourself when you're out on the water?
The ground and buildings and trees and cars etc. are even harder than the water from 20. LMG is still recovering (broken foot) from his little hop on the beach.
Impact vest is nice when you start boosting. More than likely you will just be swimming a whole bunch at first.
Yes launching and landing is critical. ASK FOR HELP at any time. Locals will be glad to check your rigging and give you a hold down if need be.
Think of it like flying a plane pre flight before takeoff and pre flight before landing. I always touch my safety as I approach land just so I have a recent muscle memory of how to eject.
Like Dewey said in another post in several years of kiting it has only been about 15 seconds of OH $h!T But that is enough.
