1K - You're Welcome!

I just activated my 1000th user as Moderator here on BAK. In my tenure since August of 2012, one my main roles has been to handle all the requests for accounts.
We track the IP address of every registrant and look at it's geolocation to do our best to avoid trolls, bots and spammers. If the registrant's IP address is from known parts of the world where nefarious activity is common and it's unlikely they really want to read/post about kite surfing in the SF Bay Area, I nuke their request. It's a never-ending task!
I think we've done a pretty decent job of keeping 'icky' stuff, ads and trolls off the forum, don't you? ;^)
Sometimes it's an intuition and judgement call. If you or anyone you know has been denied an account here on BAK, I apologize. Tell them to re-apply from an IP address that isn't in Pakistan or some remote village in China and I'll be happy to ack their account request!
See you in the water,
Kirk out
