The opening gap of the upper cove is about 100 meter. A single good filled sandbag gives us about 0.25m, so already 400 bags on a single line. Now assume how many you would need to put on top of each other to make a decent impact. Just visually did it on my desk and just even at low height its already 30 bags on top of each other - 30*400= 12000. Now we even would need fill material for them as well.... Rather unrealistic. One needs heavy machinery to make an impact. Thats clear to me.

City of FC at least answered but said that there were intentions east of the golf course (Rigging area? ) but not more. I will follow up with them and a few other leads as well.

Keep you posted, G

Yeah great vid. anyone ever tried kiteboarding with a C-Quad? Old times .. but not good old days - man ....

Just spotted this on the Coyote Point web-cam. Anybody know what this construction is about?

Y2kbug, I stopped by Coyote today and the main windsurfing parking lot was closed and surrounded by a chain link fence. Trucks were dropping off rocks of various dimensions. A couple of bobcats were there as a large digger. It looks like they are trying to rebuild the crumbling seawall again. Access to the beach is blocked off from the park. The only access to the water is the power lines. Maybe boardsportsschool has more info.

Here's a historical topo map showing the area in a more natural state. You can see Seal Creek as it was, and realize that was all open bay. Realizing everything out there is man-made may help justify a formal launch ramp along the shore there somewhere, and perhaps even extend the surface across the low tide zone.

Yeah... But that's only like 4 bags per kiter at the upper launch

The situation is getting worse very, very fast! I went out this Friday at the upper launch and saw for the first time water flowing between the launch and the area just north (area marked in red in the pic). The tide was not very high, so this seems to me a major erosion milestone that might accelerate things in a very bad way. I wouldn't be surprised if soon we saw more erosion and water flowing in the area marked in yellow as well. If this happens, it seems to me that the erosion will accelerate and we might lose a lot of the entry and rigging area very soon.

I know that with the end of the season, it's easy to tune out of this topic and harder to mobilize people to do something about this, but I have noticed that a lot of the bad erosion happens during the winter. I think we should do something sooner rather than later. Wouldn't a small wall of sand bags along the green line help slow down the erosion? I understand the need to work with the city, etc... for something more permanent/long term, but shouldn't we do something in the near future? I'm no erosion expert but am concerned about the future of kiting at 3rd and willing to help. Please reply with your thoughts if you are willing to help and have ideas on how to address this issue.

I wish there were no rocks in the area I marked in the blue. If so, we could have safely enter the water from the big cave (even at the low tide). We could rig further to the left in this case. There is a plenty of room to rig there.
