I had one club in it, but they said that as long as I had a board in there they'd charge me the $100. This was Hawaiian airlines.
i had a golf bag with no clubs. But i didnt fly Hawaiian, i flew whatever was cheapest.

As for kite size, yeah its suuuper windy out there. All i flew was a 7m. Used my 10 once or twice and not because the 7m wasn't enough. (165lb TT)

have fun!

Some tips, I go once a year.

Try to park in Kanaha beach park. Lock your car and don't leave valuables in the car. Also don't leave car keys or valuables in your kite bag on the beach. They watch for that. Invest in a cheap water prooof case so you can carry your keys, credit card, license etc. with you. The place is very friendly and non-violent but there is a drug problem in Hawaii so they want your cash or credit cards.

Don't judge the wind by conditions at the beach. It is at least 20 mph more on the water. The beach is in a wind shadow. Getting out is tricky, launch kite over the water then run your a$$ off grab board and body drag until the kite gets steady. Don't try to get in your board until you have done it a couple times. This is not Alameda. Go out, kite and stay out. Coming in and leaving the beach is a nightmare. On the water is epic!!!

Visit coconut grill in Kihei for fish Tacos. Try to kite Kihei if you can too. Visit the waterfalls on road to Hana for a break. Have fun and say Alhoa!

Flights booked with Hawaiian airlines:
August 29: San Jose, CA (SJC) - Maui - Kahului, HI (OGG)
Returning: September 10, 2013

It was kind of cheap, $437 roundtrip, they'll probably rip me off on the luggage but whatever, I'm going to maui :)

Thanks everybody for the tips!

Not to be a buzzkill, but double posting that video is a bit of overkill.

Does it makes sense not to bring my boards and rent something local? If yes, any reasonable places around?
