Had a great time on a 9m at Alameda! Couldn't believe it was still going strong when I got out of the water at 6:30pm.

Also ... got lots of practice fetching boards. Gentle reminder - please put your name on your board! None of the floaters had any name/phone. XZSD

Berkeley can be fun but has a real tendency even in the best conditions to drop like a rock, and is frequently a connect-the-gust kinda place.

Back in the days when I windsurfed, there would be plenty of days where there would be these giant holes where I was literally dead on the water for minutes at a time.....usually you'd get one last set of gusts to make it back in. You had to time it right or swim.

With a kite, those giant holes can mean real difficulty in just keeping the kite up in the air, followed by super punchy gusts.

I usually only go out there these days if it's REALLY filled in.

Mike had a blog about packed isobars.
That's usually all I need to pull the trigger on A-town.
And noobs aren't really a problem at alameda, they all end up down wind. NACF
