I'd be VERY careful here. This is a great opportunity for you and/or your hands/fingers to get tangled in your lines and have the kite power up. Not a good thing.

Keep your fingers. Land on the beach and untangle there.

There was a good topic of this discussed on NWKite

you can definitely do this even with the split up the lines ( I have a cab and have fixed crossed lines mult times on the water). you should practice on land so you know what the motion is. On the water drop your kite to the edge of the window, leave your leash attached, un hook, there shouldnt be much power as you are fully depowered. You may slowly get dragged, but not yanked. Flip the bar, re hook, un clip the leash and untwist it.

To get enough slack you probably will have to pull the center lines in above the bar. As you flip the bar you want to hold the position steady relative to the center lines otherwise you can repower the kite.

Happened to me before, since you can still fly the kite I REALLY don't see why you would wanna do such a thing while in the water when you can do it safely on land in 30 seconds...
Yes it's doable but a mistake can happen really fast, especially if your swivel is waaaaay up and not close to the bar and you end up with your back lines close to you as your trying to pass your bar in your front lines.
Fingers don't grow back... just my 2 cents.

No, the kite ends moving between the lines. Once relaunced, it flies fine, but some of the lines are crossed with each other. Typically, a backline will cross over a front line. Although on one occasion, I had the back line cross over both of the front lines.
I fly a Method V1-trying to wrap my mind around this but my mind melted when I tried to think about it. Please explain this to me-I must know how this happens.

Basically, a good way to picture it is with your kite is at 12, then passes over you and Hindenburg.
Picture the LE falling forward and the whole kite doing a front flip.
Then at this point, both your back lines are over your front lines.
I chose an example with the kite over your head to make it easier to imagine, but this can happen as your kite tumbles in the water after a crash.

Unless I misunderstood your question.

Imagine the kite somersaulting. The (tricky) fix is to unhook and somersault the bar.
