Re: Kite sizes for the Coast
I use my 12 (biggest kite) primarily from the fall through winter to the early spring on the coast. The waves are much cleaner when the wind is that light and it can be fun. I use it a lot more than my 5M (smallest kite).

Re: Kite sizes for the Coast
I'm 170 pounds riding 8m and 11m SB's... I'm trying to get into more and more wave riding and riding straps on a 6'1" trigger. I wanted to pick up more wave-oriented kites and a shorter quad board (I had a lot of fun riding one in Maui)... I'm thinking about picking up:
+ 5.5 Drifter or 6 Spitfire
+ 9 Drifter
+ 5'7" s-quad
I'm still getting my ass kicked pretty hard by OB and hope to head out to Wadell more. I'm finding the wind is either 9-10ish or much smaller. I've never rode Cautions. I've heard good things about other wave kites from Ozone and RRD. Any advice is very much welcome!

This season is all about telling a cohesive story on the wave with your kite and board that combines the strapless surf inspired style of last year with the taste of fantasy that can only be pulled off strapped
