The places you can only kite on days like today

Post by BryanMichaelMeyer » Mon Apr 08, 2013 9:22 am

There are place in the sierras that only fill in from certain types of storms with the right type of snow. Those eastern winds can rip snow off a lot of the ski areas but also fill in some of the best couloirs in the backcountry Tahoe has to offer. When everything aligns perfectly I somehow come down with a nasty cold and cant go into work.

Days like today remind me of that but I am just not as knowledgable YET around the Bay.

What are some of those spots that you look at on your drive to work, run near on the weekends or think to yourself "only if the wind was strong enough from x direction..."?

I personally would love to kite at Taco Bell Beach(linda mar) someday. Between multiple breaks to choose from and the view it would be awesome.

B

ps, no need for the "oh I would tell you but i would need to kill you" comments.

Kirk,

It's offshore right now. We've had 5 days of wind but I don't think it'll go today. The NW windline is about 1/2 mile offshore but doesn't look like it's gonna make it in to shore. The fog bank is to far out. That means that the north coast will be good though. :-)

Ooops. I blew that one. Looked like it wouldn't happen so I went and did other stuff. Came home to whitecaps, but it was to late to ride.
