It'll probably be Shellgate from here on out. I was still in the "Winter kiting, it's not that crowded" mindframe because the last few times I've been at Alameda (i.e., this year), there's been almost no one there. But, as pointed out in another thread, looks like the season has officially begun, with associated chaos.

Wait until you see 3rd ave upper launch in the spring with 30 knots wind in the channel and newbs pumping 13 on the beach because "it's the only kite they have".

I haven't driven down to Third since 2011 (getting lazy, since I have five spots within easy driving from me). Last time I was there almost the whole upper launch was flooded. Are they doing anything about the erosion?

Yes, it can be crazy there, but at least it's spacious (when not flooded). I never had a problem landing there like I did on Friday at Alameda.
