How was Waddell? Did not make it that far north, as another spot looked mighty fine...sandbars working?

Interesting - my 5th line broke over the weekend at OB. And thanks to the nice guy who let me use his bar in Alameda the same day, really cool!

KTBers are awesome!

I had 'premature ejection' at Scott Creek on Sunday......ate it on a wave inside, dumped the kite, was able to immediately relaunch only to have the chicken loop disengage.....kite dumped into head high shorepound and I released the safety thinking it was just going to wash in.....instead it drifted out a bit and got into an equilibrium between the waves and the giant rip and just sat there. I felt like such an idiot.

I almost jumped into the rip to retrieve it but then thought about how much water was moving around with the lines and stuff. Also thought about all those people that jump in after their dog that gets washed off the beach, and then figured I'd better just wait until it washed in on its own. Still felt like an idiot.

Thanks to the guy that grabbed it and hauled it in. Nicely done through the head high shorepound though we both got very slightly pounded. Hero status.

I still feel like an idiot. Premature ejection. I hate it when that happens.

Nice to know we look out for each other. Everybody is an idiot sometimes. At least I keep telling myself that.........

That rip gets everyone eventually, it's just a matter of time....

...I'm a fan of a new way to measure your readiness to enter the ocean: stand on the beach and make sure you are ok swimming out past the break and back, two times....if that is the case, you are ready to kite it.

Probably not quite as good as where you were, but the crowd was better. All 3 of us! The spot to the south looked fun though!

Heh, that's funny. I think a lot of folks took a look at it that day and decided they didn't want to even kite it, let alone swim around in it.

Z, I think you may be overdoing it a little on the twice thing, but having done a solo swim IN at the same spot recently when it was double overhead after my leash broke surfing, I agree it's most definitely often even harder than it looks. Serious hold-downs.......glub glub
