But more seriously, on south wind, I could imagine you could rig at the peer and work your way upwind?

All very helpful....sheesh.....appreciate the insight. I'll just rig on the grass by lighthouse, self launch and climb over z fence

I'm no santa cruz expert, but couldn't you just launch at cowell's and then kite upwind a bit. I'm assuming it was SE wind. Or isn't there a beach just west of steamer that you could launch.
