I don't think conditions at Mauritius were very ideal for aerial type moves... Patri, Airton, Mitu, etc. are all certainly talented in this area....

they're all really good at that stuff. I just think the competition rules don't reward that type of riding. which is unfortunate.

I was there when they had the KSP in Cape Verde. The conditions were PERFECT for that stuff (as evidenced by those guys doing insane stuff before the contest).

But, they decided to cancel the entire event because the waves weren't good enough. For some reason head high with side-off 25mph wind wasn't good enough...I was glad, cause it meant I could kite, but I felt bad for all the pro's who went there to compete...

KSP Contest, aka "Kite Strapless Pro"

Here's how I see it… a surf contest with kites is still a surf contest. A kitesurf contest should allow and reward any moves possible with the kite/surfboard/wave combination. Otherwise it's just a tow in surf contest. Yawn.

But then again, I'm not into contests.
