I wore a helmet only at the coast until I hit ground in 200 feet from shore at 3rd ave crashing after a jump (luckily hitting rocks under water with foots). Now wearing a helmet all the time - the most safe-looking conditions are usually the most deceptive.

That is too bad that so many guys do not wear a helmet at 3rd, thinking that it is a safe spot.

I wear a helmet wherever there are rocks or trees: 3rd, Berkeley, Sherman. No helmet at Crissy, Alameda; maybe I should reconsider. Glad to hear you're ok.

Haven't ridden at Waddell in a while, but I imagine a helmet would be important for when the waves throw your board back at you.
