Replacement Pump

Postby SFPete » Wed Jul 04, 2012 9:12 am

Now that all my pumps have started leaking, I would like to know where to get a decent, not-too-expensive replacement pump. Any ideas?

Replacement Pump

Pretty much all the pumps for kites are about the same. Cheap. Try the cool battery powered pump from I think Black and Decker. There's a thread here somewhere that mentions it. :-)

I've been using the Bravo 4 pump for several seasons. It has a really cool feature that allows you to convert the pump from a double-action into single-action. This feature is great when the pressure resistance gets strong because it's more efficient pushing down on the pump and it's easier on your back & shoulders.
This pump has an aluminum shaft and seems to be better built than what I've seen from other companies including the hose & attachments.
This pump was hard to find. I purchased the pump from here... http://www.waterstrider.com

actually no, at least 2 companies have come out with new/better pumps

LF has the Maxflow. Definitely a lot more robust than a normal pump. the larger diameter max pumping faster, but harder at the end to get pressure. http://vimeo.com/14383094

Cab also has a new pump, it doesn't look that different from the old, but it looks like they upgraded it to make it more reliable too.

where is your pump leaking? the advantage of the old pumps is they were super easy to fix. if it's the hose, just buy a new hose (home depot), if it's the valves, seal, get some grease...

High-larious. I couldn't watch more than 30 seconds of that max flow video. Not sure if its a spoof or for real. I've tried to fix the old ones. Grease did not help. I even think it hurt because it captured sand. On one it is the seal at the shaft. On the other, I think its the flap in the piece that moves up and down, but not sure. I guess I am off to walmart.

I am surprised no one said to get one of these.

Just mooch a free pump off a beginner. They usually have brand new pumps.
