Re: Pacifica shark sighting
Hello Guys,
The pelagic society diligently applies from one tablespoon or more of the brand (JOY) Liguid detergent inside there wetsuit usually applied from their neck opening after they put on there wetsuits. This agitent combined with salt water produces a chemical combatbatent that seems to deter sharks for a sertain radius.
When I lived in SC I would always take a short walk up to a bluff or a view site to look for a raked fin or the landlord to most surfers..this is also a good time to check the swell direction.. In the early morning the waves are glass so can see a fin a mile away. this works for surfers but will not work very well for kiters mostly because the wind swell will disguise a fin within the chop...no worries kiters unless your down on the outside with no wind and if you are you have alot of lines to get his teeth into and that big kite will look more yummy then you anyway.
If I don't see a fin at a break..I don't put (JOY SOAP) in my suit.. instead I carry a ziplock bag of (JOY) in the sleeve of my suit.. this is easy on the environment but I still have it with me in case I need it. If you are hit before you get a chance to despense the soap and you still have a arm to despense the soap do it .. this will save your life if you can swim away.
I was(( Buzzed)) by a shark at (The Hook) in SC.. and I will share this with you...if you are on a surfboard you will feel like your being pulled to the shark as it passes... this may be the only warning before the attack..first thought is paddle fast out of there. WELL YA!! but if you do you will be pullled to the bottom by the shark!!! this is the time to fight or die. now if you have that soap in on your hands in front of you... he's out of there and will not return like a hurt puppy.
Max be with you "
" in joy I trust

Wow, no shit? I always thought the Hook was the safest place in terms of sharks, super kelpy and shallow. Hmmm who knew. When did this happen? Love the joy thing. I'm pretty sure you are messing with us though.I was(( Buzzed)) by a shark at (The Hook) in SC..

While Max is feeding them his Joy, I suspect everyone else would be pert-near walk'n on water to get away--

sharks LOVE places like the one you discribe... only they are "generally" smaller then the one's that actually bite people...
I used to BoneFish on the flats and marrows of Abaco and I will tell you truthfully there are LOTS of sharks along the East Coast.

Yes this is true. Great white sharks mostly attack over rocky substrate where kelp grows in less than 20 feet of water. They are able to natural hide underneath you with there dark skin on top. The GWS rarely attackts over sand, they are easily exposed to the prey. When studying Biology at Cal Poly I took many (most all) marine biology courses available and was told this many times.
